About DUSTIN METER

Definition: Dustiness method is defined as theproperty of a granular product to liberate dust into the air when handled underspecified conditions. this conditions are related to typical handling inagricultural practice (i.e. measuring out & pouring the product into thespray tank)

Outline of the method: thedetermination of the Dustiness of agranular product involves two operations. Firstly a weighed amount of agranular product is allowed to fall under standard conditions in a testchamber, thus releasing dust. The second operation is the collectionand/assessment of the amount of airborn dust. This can be achieved by agravimetric method in which the generated dust is removed by an airflowcollected on a filter & weighed.

PROCEDURE METHOD:

A) Sampling: Take a sample accordingto MT-166.. It is important to measure dustiness with the sample "as received".Whenever possible take the sample from apreviously unopened commercialcontainer. Changes in water content by "conditioningi of the sample undercertain temperature and/or humidity conditions can changed the dustinesssignificantly. For each determination take a representative sample930.0 g)weighed in the nearest 0.1g.

B) Determination of Dust: Weigh afilter disc to the nearest 0.1mg (W1 g) & put it on the filter plate of theglass filter. Connect the glass filter with the tubing to an air flow meter(Rota meter) & a vacuum pump & then plug the glass filter into the filling at the measuring box. Startthe vacuum Pump & adjust the air flowto 15 Ltr/M. In a glass beaker weigh a 10.0 g sampleto the nearest 0.1g& transfer it with a single action into the pouring tube. At the same timeSTART the stop watch.

The liberated airborne dust is suckedoff for 60 sec & collected on the filter disc.Remove the filter disc withthe tweezers & weigh it to the nearest 0.1mg (W2 g).
The difference in weights (W2g iW1g) is defined as a "collected dusti.

Construction: TheUnit is completely made-up of stainless Steel 304 matt finish quality ,measuring box coupled with Calibrated Rotameter of Acrylic with regulator forAir flow & with plugged type INLET& OUTLET tubing , Sintered filter glass disc of 100 micron (removable) withBrass fitting in SS flange , Lid with pouring tube & silicon gasket with SSRing knob for tight fitting to prevent Air-leakage while suction. The wholeassembly is fixed on rugged SS base plate with heavy duty rubber legs.

Accessories included: SinteredGlass Filter Disc of Porosity 100im, 100ml Glass beaker, Stop Watch LCD Battery operated , Softbrush, Glass Rod Spatula , Tweezers.

NOTE: Vacuum Pump ,Weighing Scale is not in the scope of supply with Unit.
